Over eating v over drinking

when i was in, i couldn't understand why the subject of over eating or gluttony was almost never discussed, there was countless talks and articles about over drinking but over eating is lumped in as the same offence in the bible but was never discussed?

an elder who was serving in the islands told me he heard a talk given by a local in the cong there who professed that "in the new system we can eat as much as we want and not get fat".

so why was /is it not talked about?

I've 'studied' with an elder that would make himself these HUGE honking triple decker pickle sandwiches smothered in mayonnaise. This of course was done halfway through the study AFTER I had already stayed there for supper.. ( they were racking up the hours off my back ) Kind of guy that would go back for a second fully loaded plate. Was truly something to behold, never seen anything like it not even in 'the world' so to speak.

The supper and sandwich binge evening was the last one there for me, I peeled out really pissed after !

Him and his wife were / are obese. Once went in service with them in my MK2 Jetta and they filled the whole car, pretty gross hehe

New Episode Of The Shunned Podcast If You're So Inclined

i know i have a few people here that enjoy the stories on the podcast, so i announce when a new one comes out.

also sometimes this is a way for new people to find it and get help if they want, so here it is.

between this jw life (my first podcast) and shunned we just went over the 40,000 individual download mark, which is pretty cool.. i just released episode sixteen about sydney, and it's a great look into the narcissism and authoritarian nature of the cult.

Everything about this thread is spot on, look into Narcissism and you will see the mind games the society plays on us. Think about it, they've had over a 100 years to perfect their craft. They do it well the sons of bitches.. read read read about them and the subject. The more you know the more you will own your life. None of this prevents you from being spiritual if you so desire.

Sara : Yes they will turn on you once baptised, they'll want to run your life. You'll be slowly broken down and dismantled to a shell of what you once were. I've lived through it I know.

Suicides

i have been on the phone the last to two weeks calling people i've known over the last forty years most of who are still jehovah's witnesses.

some of these people who didn't know i was "out" talked to me and some who knew i was "out" still talked to me.

some of the those people are even elders.. by book new boy will be dedicated to all the people who have killed themselves because of being a jehovah's witness or knowing others who were jehovah's witnesses.

Newcomers : This is the guy that single handedly woke me up thanks to his New Boy at Bethel in the 70's thread. Great reading including the episode of Elton John's Madman Across The Water blaring form his decrepit Chevy Biscaine car's stereo on one of the downtown expressways parting traffic like Moses at the Red Sea ! So funny, was shocking to me at the time, I wept... realisation that I was way more gullible than I thought.

Crooked Teeth

well 55 yo this summer times flies.. was in my late thirties when i started thinking about getting braces or some other treatment for my crowded teeth.

decided to put it off a few years later as 'the new system' ™ was right around the corner.

then went through a huge burn out depression and my teeth became a lesser priority.

Good to hear you're going to the gym. I got back into mountain biking after close to a 10 year layoff myself, gradually at first is key.

Just saw the film, "Apostasy"

it was a very good film but not fully what i was expecting.

a jw could even watch it, i don't think the title fit the movie.

there was absolutely nothing about apostasy, nor do i recall the word even being mentioned.

The good:
It did a great job of showing what JW life is like. It was shot in an actual kingdomhall! Most of the actors really did well acting like JW's, you would think they all had been ex jw's to pull it off. It exposes the lie that JW's do not break up families as claimed on jw.org faq on shunning family members.

You really think it was in an actual Kingdom hall ? Maybe rather just a prop ? Either it was a sold off building or a fabricated prop as I just don't see how they could film inside an actual functional kindom hall ??

why the watchtower is so short of money

the watchtower is so short of money because they have to pay for all the upkeep of so many branch offices around the world.because so many of the branch offices are in very poor countries and they are not balancing the budgets.

Somewhat related question : whatever happened to their HUGE printing systems / lines that were set-up in Patterson or Wallkill NY. Machines so large that they were practically set on their foundations before the wall of the complex went up. I remember seeing vids on this a while back with the smug hard hat wearing brothers spewing BS ans snapping his suspenders about it all. Was quite the sight to see.. boasting USA

i posted this before, but my wife is upset and not handling it well.

her mother has alzheimer and is in a care facility for the rest of her life.

between medicare and caid she is paid for the care.

Good post, being a small business owner ( precision machining ) I used to get lots of grief over the fact I'm a workaholic and not a millionaire. ( as if I have nothing to show for it being modest myself ) JW's attitudes towards money are pathetic, they tend toward the fast easy money spectrum of things. They thumb their noses on the long term view of work life / career and seem to prefer members with good situations either through inheritance or cleaning empires. That and union jobs preferred for good standing in the congregation of dimwits.

A school bus driver, his wife and a financially independent retired widow used to rag on me for working seriously and investing in newer equipment and machine tools. WORK had become a four letter word for them.

Good for you BA glad you had the foresight to see through the BS, it got to a point I almost cashed everything in at one point thanks to the brainwashing.. glad I held on and 'worked' through it LOL
